Solandra Retreats
Places that were already remarkable before we arrived
Six retreats across the Asia Pacific, the Indian Ocean, and Europe. Built low, run quietly, and handed back better than we found them.
Our thinking
A retreat should be the least interesting thing about where it stands. We build low, plant more than we clear, and let the place do the talking.

Destinations
Six places, deliberately far apart
Built for the place
Nothing stands taller than what was already growing
Every Solandra is drawn by an architect from the country it stands in, and built by people who live within an hour of it. In Ubud that meant bamboo from Gianyar and thatch rebuilt by hand every seven years. In Ardnamurchan it meant a Victorian lodge left almost exactly as it was.
We take the constraint seriously: no building rises above the mature canopy or the ridgeline behind it. It costs more, takes longer, and is the whole point.
Dining
Sixteen kitchens, and a very short supply chain
Menus are written each morning, after the garden is walked and the boats come in. What cannot be grown or landed nearby generally does not appear.
El Nido
Sibol
Kamayan on banana leaf, cooked over coconut husk.
Amalfi
La Limonaia
Long lunches under the lemon pergola.
Ardnamurchan
The Snug
Two hundred and forty bottles, weighted west.
Wellbeing
We do not offer a programme. We offer a week in which nothing is asked of you, and a therapist who trained here.
